The costume of Pulcinella is similar to the folk one - the linen trousers and the loose shirt with a belt. A high cap is also characteristic. This character derives from Naples, region with long comic traditions. As well this character derives from ancient Roman farces with Maccus, Pappus, Bucco and others. Pulcinella often had a hunch back, a beaked nose, a gigantic mouth and insatiably hungry like that characters. The name "Pulcinella" means "a cock", and he really looks like a rooster with his bantam nature.
