Harlequin is the most famous and popular character in the whole Commedie dell'Arte. You can easy recognize Harlequin by multicolored attire, reminiscent of the stylized livery. Other characteristic of Harlequin is the black mask with snub nose and feline features.

     Harlequin's role is second manservant, he comes from Bergamo. He is stupid, gullible and forever hungry. Actor who played Harlequin shared often his bitter fortune. At the same time, Harlequin has a jolly nature, he is acrobatic and his movements are almost a dance.
