And a nameless lodger,
a Nobody, boards the boat,
a bottle of grappa concealed in his raincoat
as
he gains his shadow room, bereaved
of memory, homeland, son, with only the noise
of distant forest to grieve for his former joys,
if
anyone is grieved.
J.Brodsky "Lagoon"
(transl. by Antony Hecht)
Walking
along the Venetian streets, I have seen a marble plaque
informing that at this house Mozart stopped during carnival
1771. I have recollected a legend about mysterious " black
man " who has ostensibly ordered to Mozart his Requiem.
The idea of this doll was born from this image and under
the impression of traditional Venetian mask.
I think, to create my own
Black Man is the only way to escape them.
